60007 Sir Nigel Gresley

60007 (No.7) is probably the greatest ever A4. It's postwar record speed of 112mph is only one of many great things that this locomotive has done!
** Why not help support your favourite A4 ** Various types of membership of the SNGLPT are open, with details on the Trust website www.sirnigelgresley.org.uk
The Locomotive was purchased from British Railways in 1965 by the A4 Preservation Society which became the A4 Locomotive Society Ltd. in 1967 when the engine returned to operation after overhaul at Crewe. Since then the Locomotive has regularly worked mainline excursions and on heritage railways. The A4 LS became a registered charity ‘The Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Preservation Trust Limited’ with the name of the A4LS continuing as the operating company. For more details and how to join see www.sirnigelgresley.org.uk.

The last major overhaul was completed in 2005 at Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway where 60007 is now based. Sir Nigel is in regular operation on the NYMR during the summer months.
