You know you're from Santa Clara when...

- You know that 35 on El Camino Real really means 50.

- You can tell when you're right on the border of San Jose and Santa Clara just by looking at the street signs around you.

- You know that Santa Clara High School will always be under construction.

- The sound of the CalTrain passing by is music to your ears.

- Your heart broke when Keystone closed down.

- You've never heard of light rail.

- You remember Mervyn's Plaza when it didn't suck COMPLETELY.

- You wonder why this county is called *Santa Clara* County when the county seat is San Jose.

- You know that the title of the group is referring to the CITY of Santa Clara. (SCU'ers, you're welcome to stay but do know the purpose of this group.)

* You tell people you're from San Jose because no one know where the hell Santa Clara is.

* You ♥ Stans Donuts!

* You miss Bullwinkle's.

* One of your teachers is on city council.

* You still call University Chicken "Cluck-U."

* You were fine with Valley Fair before Santana Row came along- and you now have a hole in your pocket

* When you know Mondo is better than La Vics. Thats right, you KNOW it.

- Teen Center = free internet cafe in disguise.

* You know which apartments have nice hottubs and which ones dont.

* You have to park at least 5 blocks just to watch the Central Park fireworks.
(My family got stuck at Moonlight Shopping Center last year. Grr.)

* When you get excited for the art and wine festival, even though half the time you think it's lame you still go

* You went to Great America for your eight grade field trip

* You know the football history between SC and Wilcox

* You've been to the Jack in the Box on Lafeyette at 3am

* No Wal-Marts

* Wondered what was in that adult store on Saratoga Ave/Stevens Creek

* Craving for In-N-Out, but annoyed about driving so far to get some

* Whenever you and friends are bored in the middle of the night, you can simply go to Denny's and end up having some interesting stories to tell.

* You have a WOW Card for Great America.

- San Tomas and its red lights are/were the bane of your attendance record.

- You remember when VTA Line 34 went by SCHS. (Now it's relegated to some hospitals in Mountain View =/)

-* Your city has a six-digit population count, yet no downtown area.

- While shopping at Valley Fair, you don't know whether you're in SC or SJ, and you know why.

* You've yet to use one of those free MetroFi hotspots.

* You can hear someone flooring their car on San Tomas at night.

* You can go just about anywhere on the 22.

* By-th-Bucket.

* You have had to explain to some kid from LA that "Santa Clarita" and "Santa Clara" are SO not the same place.

* When people ask you where Santa Clara is you sigh and say "Great America".

* You have to drive all the way to san jose or sunnyvale to play a pick-up game of basketball.

* When the only places you've ever been pulled over by the po-po are either on lafayette, agnew, or by SCU.

* When you are able to sleep through the departing and arriving airplanes at san jose airport.

* You remember when Buchser caught on fire...TWICE.

* You remember when Santana Row caught on fire.

* You remember when the poles at prunridge golf course fell down.

* Yumi Yogurt is amazing.

- You know what that vacant lot on El Camino & Scott used to be.

- You know better than to pump gas at the Arco station on Warburton & Scott.

* You remember shopping at Clothestime

* You can drive 1 minute away from your house and for some reason be in Sunnyvale.

* You remember la paloma before it turned bright yellow!

* You remember Cinderella in Mariposa Mall.

- You ignore school speed limits even "when children are present," as well as the 25mph speed limit by the senior center on Winchester.

* You've been to Teen Zone dances.

- You remember when Mission Liquor used to have video rentals.
- ...and when Alberto's was called the Flamingo Lounge.
- ...and the shopping center on the opposite corner of that intersection.

- You've played Red Steel on the Wii and joked about the main character being an intersection.

* You remember when the Santana Row sign used to belong to a Chevorlet dealership.

* You know that D.A.R.E. doesn't do shit.

* You remember when Fiorillo's used to be next to Mervyn's.

* You remember the Parade of Champions.

* When you've experienced more than one car crash on Homestead.

- You know which streets change names and what they get renamed as they go into San José.

- (SJSU only) You've gotten frustrated that some of your classmates don't know where Santa Clara is.

- You know more people whose last name is Nguyen than people whose last name is Smith.

* You know that Washington Street is crazy, and have fucked up and tried to make a right turn when you weren't able to.

- You don't take advantage of the reversable lane on Lafayette Street.

* You got really excited when San Jose became the 10th most populated city in America - it was like you were famous by association or something.

* You get so bored that you travel to the end of Lawerence and end up in Los Gatos.

- Unless you were born at Kaiser Hospital across Central Park, you know that Santa Clara is NOT your true birthplace.

* You remember thinking the "other" kids at Washington Open were weird since they called their teachers by their first names!

* You know the back entrance to Westood from Bohannon... between the houses.

* You don't have to experience any rolling blackouts because you have Silicon Valley Power rather than PG&E.

* You've lost track of how many times the restaurant across from La Paloma has changed.

- You spend more than 2 hours at a time at Barefoot Coffee.

* You've tried to steal an item from the library by bringing it up stairs and throwing it off the balcony.

* On Sunday nights, you can hear the crazyy engines of the runs buzzing up and down Lawrence.

- You know that it's "Vallco" and not some stupid shit like "Cupertino Square."

* Got bored and drove from El Camino starting in Santa Clara to the end in San Francisco.

* When you know that that restaurant on the corner of homestead and las palmas has changed like 6 times.

* You go to the Art and Wine festival and see one of your teachers drunk, screaming and cussing someone out. Good times.

* You have had to explain to people that you live in Santa CLARA, not Santa CARLA... There are no Vampires here. (for those of you who remember The Lost Boys)

* You know that SCHS Wrestling dominates.

* You know the civic center/triton museum area was the shit for "riding bikes".

* You were in awe of the pool at central park, compared to warburton.

* You clipped the 50% off coupon from Potpourri for the all-you-can-eat Chinese Smorgi at the old Town & Country mall.

* You can remember when the Wherehouse was the only near-decent record store and always drove to Tower Records (or Amoeba) in SJ for music.

* You mourned the Wendy's by Mervyn's closing down.

* you get a serious craving for Wienerschnitzel.

* You worked or had a friend who worked at Orchard Supply Hardware.

- You've considered working at Great America.

* When you know exactly which park someone is referring to when they say the train park.

* You still refer to Great America as PGA.

* You remember when the rides at "Paramount's Great America" were called Top Gun & Drop Zone. not Flight Deck & Drop Tower.

* You remember when Barefoot used to be called City Espresso, then Javari.

- You've taken martial arts lessons at West Coast Karate on San Tomas and El Camino.

- You always come across someone you know in the Hollywood Video plaza.

- You remember the ice cream man by Cabrillo who got charged with pedophilia or something like that.

- You remember when the 32 went by Cabrillo.

* You remember when Great America was opening, and was called Marriott's.

* You remember when the Library when didn't have a second floor.

* You spend your Friday & Saturday cruising the El Camino, and eating at Taco Bell.

* You got to school in morning, and saw Bob from Bob's Big Boy on the Gym roof!

* When you know that Westwood and Westwood Open were two different schools sharing a campus.

* When you remember what use to be on the corner of San Thomas and El Camino where the Hollywood Video is now...(Lyon Restaurant)

* When you remember the Horse swing park.... you know which one.

* You remember the Kress Department store in the MoonLight Plaza (corner of Kiely and El Camino).

* You used to party at the "freeshow", the drive-in off El Camino & Kiely.

* You still call Great America "Marriott's Great America"

* You refer to 880 Oakland/Santa Cruz as 17, or the Nimitz

* You remember when John No Home (now Picture Atlantic) played shows during lunch at Juan Cabrillo Middle School.

* Every 4th of July you just look out the window and see the fireworks at Great America.

* You have shop lifted from Food Villa, Bills Drugs, and Food Farm.
(oh gosh, Food Barn, and that ghetto-ass strip mall...)

* When you remember shoplifting from Carnival Supplies on El Camino/San Thomas.

* When there was a Clothestime and Albertsons in the Mervyn's Plaza.

* You remember Home Express was in that big empty store that becomes the Spirit store every October.

* You remember dancing at One Step Beyond.

* You either had a birthday at Bullwinkles or worked there for some small time. "Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls Bullwinkle and all his friends would like to wish Tommy a very happy birthday! haaaaaaaaaaaaaappy birthday Tommy."
