“Nrithyanjali Institute of Dance” is a premier dance company in ...the United States of America, dedicated to preserving, promoting and propagating classical Indian dance forms. Established in 1993, the institute has to its credit several successful and unique productions spanning the last two decades. Many of the productions have been supported by reputed Arts organizations such as the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the Plainsboro Arts Partnership, the Middlesex County Culture and Heritage Commission, Wheaton, Monroe, Piscataway, Essex Arts Councils, as well universities and museums, such as Rutgers University, Drew University, Wesleyan College, Stockton College of New Jersey, Cumberland & Middlesex County Colleges, Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College, Newark Museum, Philadelphia Museum, Allentown Museum of art etc.
Nrithyanjali, under the leadership of its artistic direction, Ramya Ramnarayan, has presented traditional themes and innovative collaborations. The Institute strives to educate varied audiences about this dance style by using innovative teaching methods and conducting interactive workshops throughout the year.

Selected List of Themes Presented by the Institute are:
• Rhythm in the soul – a collaborative work with African (Kamate Traders) drummers and dancers – August 2011
• Journey through Genre –a joint production with Flamenco (Alborada Spanish dance Theatre) dancers and musicians – September 2010
• Artistic expose of emotions – a unique performance presenting ancient 2nd century work, The Sangam Literature
• Nrithyanjali along with Lehigh University featured Bharatanatyam to rich Western choral music
• Bharatanatyam to the tunes of Contemporary Jazz music along with jazz musicians from the University of Amsterdam presented in major cities in India

Over the years Nrithyanjali has organized various benefit shows and has collected over $200,000 for various charities such as The American Red Cross, Wellness Community Center, Easton Hospital, Kids Peace America, Free the Children, Tsunami relief fund, Haiti relief fund, North Brunswick Public Library, Guruvayoor Appan Sannidhi, and Ranganatha Seva Samithi.

With a history of successful choreography and presentation of such a vast array of dance productions, the institute believes that it has contributed and will continue to enhance and enrich the arts in the United States of America.
