Books that surprised and charmed the world, these books are known for their complex characters, the sudden and often violent twists in the plot, and the complex political intrigue. In a genre where magic usually has a central role, these series of stories are renowned for their limited use of magic, presenting it as an ambiguous and often behind the scenes power. The books so far, do not focus on the escalating dispute between "Good" and "Evil." The plot revolves primarily around political conflicts and civil wars, with only one or two stories suggesting the possible existence of an external threat.

The books can find readers in bookstores, by the publications Bantam Spectra (USA, Canada), Voyager Books (UK, Australia), Pygmalion (France), Mondadori (Italy), Gigamesh (Spain), Blanvalet (Germany), Saída de Emergência (Portugal), AST (Russia), Anubis (Greece). Also HBO (Home Box Office) the second largest subscription channel in America has moved the books into a television series with the title of the first book in America "GAME of THRONES". Every episode is on Sundays at 9 pm.

There are also the Tales of Dunk and Egg series of novellas written by George R. R. Martin, set in the world of his Song of Ice and Fire cycle. Four novellas have appeared so far:

Tales of Dunk and Egg:
1)The Hedge Knight

2)The Sworn Sword

3)The Mystery Knight

4)The She-Wolves of Winterfell (provisional name)
(The fourth novellas are not complete but George R. R. Martin has given them a provisional name)

The stories relate to the adventures of Dunk (eponymously called Ser Duncan the Tall, a legendary member of the Kingsguard before the time of A Song of Ice and Fire) and Egg, beginning with their meeting eighty-nine years before the events of the main cycle and intended to cover a long period. Martin has indicated there will be several more stories, as many as nine, covering much of the life stories of the two protagonists.
