Nemes Nutters Swimming Club

"A Winter of Gold, Silver & Cake"! The Nutters go from strength to strength since the team started competing 3 years ago & this Winter has been the most successful yet. After training hard at the lake, the Nutters kicked off the winter competitions at the beginning of January with PHISH. 17 members of the Nutters came to support and compete and rocket girl Jackie Hope took bronze in the 122m with an outstanding sprint! Braving freezing temps, Tegwyn Tricker Patricia Legg and Annabel Lavers smashed the 1k endurance. Bullet boy Adrian Rotchell stole 4th in the endurance & got us off to a great start to the season. A week later a dawn start followed for the UK Cold Water Championships 2015. A huge, very loud bunch of Nutters gave their all in 3 degree water to bring home a huge medal cache! A bronze for Pat, 2 Golds for Pam Bessell Was Cretten , 2 Golds for Daisy, a bronze for Jackie Hope & the frozen feet award to "Bond"! The following week the Nutters arrived en-masse at Chillswim in snowy Cumbria & stole the show with a medal haul of 13! Mostly golds! By the beginning of February we all needed a well earned break from the cold water - except our Ice Queen Jackie Cobell who went straight on to represent the UK in various Winter Swimming Championships around the Globe - collecting more medals and dance moves on her travels. Jackie is off to Argentina this Wednesday to swim around some of the Falkland Islands. This is a first. And the conditions will be treacherous. Good luck Jackie x Last night some of us attended the CSPF dinner and a special mention must go to Liam Cameron on his super fast Channel swim last July & also to Mark Sheridan who was awarded the JLDSC Award for the Channel swim completed "against all odds" - huge well done to you both. As we edge in to the Spring, more challenges are lined up for some of the Nutters, including some marathon swims, but we look forward to swimming with everyone, old or new, triathlete or Channel swimmer. I am very proud of the reputation and ethos of the Nemes Nutters and how we have grown into such a large, friendly Club. See you all at our beautiful lake soon x
