Brittany Hacker at Ocean City Beach Project

Hello, friends!
I realized that I am seriously the worst updater in the world, so sorry for keeping you all in the dark. Blogging is not my friend and after many failed attempts at starting one, I have decided to not do it. However, I will add my thoughts on here and post videos on at least a weekly basis for the remainder of my time here. smile emoticon I'm staying at this really awesome house called the Ark Retreat Center on Wesley Avenue in Ocean City. My mailing address is P.O. Box 1795, Ocean City, NJ, 08226. I just want to start out by thanking this wonderful group of people for your support, whether that be monetarily, through prayer, words of encouragement, or a combination of some of those. I can't express in proper words how much I appreciate being here and how much I have already learned. Part of being here, for those who don't know, is getting a job. I have been blessed with two jobs now, actually. One is a waitressing job at a place called 8th Street Restaurant and Café, and the other job is at Kidz Creations craft store. (more on the job experience in a later video) We also have two classes per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-10 pm with different speakers every week. The first week we had this guy named Sam Chez (the video is a must for that lesson-\-\so good!). The second week we learned about how God uses our strengths and weaknesses to further His kingdom. Those lessons were taught by this really cool dude named Terry Timm. Last week we learned about worldview and it shapes our thoughts and actions from the lovely Heather Strong. This week we'll be learning about evangelism, and I can't wait! In addition to the classes, we also have been diving through the book of Mark during after house praise and worship on Mondays. One of the most important lessons I've learned thus far has been that people are even more amazing than I realized before. I live in a house full of 27 college students and around 5 staff people (plus 2 little kids) and there is never a dull moment. The community that I have experienced here is one in which people sincerely care about me and my life. It's not just about surface affection; it's the real deal. I can't wait to invite people in my life at home and in Clarion (and wherever else I might be) to really be a part of living and doing way more than merely existing in this fantastic life. That's all for now. Blessings on all of you! (P.S. I'd love to hear from you. Snail mail is great. haha And, please message me your address if you haven't done so already. I would love to send you things, too!) grin emoticon
