To be part of this group you must live in the inner west and be proud of it!

The Inner West is a GENERAL term which is used to describe the metropolitan area directly to the west of the Sydney central business district in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

The inner west is not a PRECISE geographical region. The Australian Bureau of Statistics limits its Inner Western Sydney region to the areas of Abbortsford, Annandale, Ashfield, Balmain, Birchgrove, Breakfast Point, Burwood, Cabarita, Camperdown, Canada Bay, Canterbury, Chiswick, Concord, Croydon, Cyrdon Park, Dulwich Hill, Enmore, Erskineville, Five Dock,Gladesville, Glebe, Habberfield, Leichhardt, Lewisham, Lilyfield, Marrickville, Newtown, Petersham, Pyrmont, Rhodes, Rozelle, Russell Lea, Rodd Point, Stanmore, St Peters, Strathfield, Summer Hill, Sydenham and Ultimo. There are even some who claim parts of the North Shore such as Hunter's Hill fall within the definition of the Inner West.

Recently the suburbs of Belfield, Campsie, Earlwood and its surroundings have come under much heated speculation of being defined as part of the Inner West. Suburbs belonging west of the Cooks River are not considered to be part of the Inner West. Those living in these suburbs are kindly asked to reconsider joining the 'Inner West Is Best.

The inner west is NOT Auburn, Bankstown, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, Parramatta or Penrith. People belonging to these suburbs are considered 'Westies'.
