Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School (DGBHS) is one of the best public schools in Bangladesh. It was established in the year of 1965, and it stands just beside the National Parliament Building of Bangladesh (Jatiyo Sangshad Bhaban).

It has been repeatedly reported as one of the most successful schools in Bangladesh in connection with flourishing SSC results. Given its historical influence on the society and ongoing sustainability in reputation, DGBHS is irrefutably one of the most desirable destinations of schooling in the country. Such reputation is reflected with intense competition during admission process where a healthy proportion of the applicants get rejected with a very few being selected. Many of the graduates from the school are established leaders and notable personnel of the country and beyond to global horizon within different capacities.

Dhanmondi Govt. Boys’ High School enrolls students from class (grade) 1 up to 10. The school operates in two shifts - morning and day. In each shift, there generally exists two sections in each class (grade). The sections tend to comprise 40 to 50 students apiece. Usually about 200 odd students appear SSC each year from the school, with about third-fourth in science, and the rest in commerce. However, administrative decisions are taken by a combination of teachers from both shifts under one Headmaster who controls either shifts at the heart of the school's operation.

The school emphasizes on the growth of students’ latent faculties through providing facilities that include a computer lab, science labs, indoor and outdoor sports. Students have the opportunity to take part in the BNCC, boy scout movements, science fairs, debate festivals and other cultural events as extracurricular activities. The school also provides students access to the library that has a resource of several thousands academic books.

The former students of DGBHS are known as DExSAn (sometimes referred to D'Boyz), a phrase which was initially proposed by DGBHS Ex-Students Association (DExSA) just before its wider acceptance. DExSA, however, is the alumni association of the institution that is responsible to organize regular events and programs in and outside the school premises.
