Edison High School Band Parents

If you have a student enrolled in any of the bands at Edison High School, then you’re in! We are a group of parents committed to enhancing the experience of our band students by:

Providing and organizing volunteers for various band activities.
Facilitating communication between our band directors and our band parents.
Managing fundraisers to help offset the cost of band activities, such as Band Camp and Spring Trips. Providing and organizing volunteers for various band activities.
Advocating for the band program to the greater Edison community.
Acquiring and donating items deemed important by the Band Directors but are unattainable due to budget constraints.

In the late summer and fall, you’ll see dozens of parents helping out the marching band: fitting uniforms, making costumes, flags and props for the Color Guard, moving percussion equipment during competitions, chaperoning, providing refreshments for long bus rides and helping the kids and the directors do whatever has to be done. In early September, it’s all hands on deck for the Edison Festival of Marching (EFOM) Band Competition, hosted in our own football Stadium. There is Spirit Wear to be sold, student fundraisers such as our candy bars, and requests to provide support for concerts. We provide chaperones for band trips and our various fundraising events help to offset trip costs for all students.

Why get involved? Well, why wouldn’t you? The parents are fun, the kids are a blast, and the music is superb. You can take on a big role or be an occasional volunteer – or even just come to our meetings on the 1st Thursday in the band room @ 7:00 most months and listen to what’s going on in the band program. We need all the help we can get for our amazing kids. We’d love to see you there!
