SCMS Animated Media Scholarly Interest Group

The SCMS Animated Media Scholarly Interest Group (SIG) aspires to offer a dynamic academic network for those working on, or curious about, animation as an increasingly relevant moving image form in Cinema and Media Studies and beyond.

The two main objectives of the Animated Media SIG Mission are:

1. to provide a forum and network for international scholars, students and practitioners to support academic research in animated media studies at SCMS conferences.

2. for the SIG members to meet annually at SCMS conferences to discuss current and future projects and plans and to work collaboratively to achieve its aims and objectives.

The aims and objectives of the SIG are:

1. to work with the SCMS Executive and Conference Programme Committees and other SCMS Scholarly Interest Groups to strengthen and consolidate animated media studies in the Society and with its membership.

2. to collectively organize screenings, panels, special events, workshops, and pursue international collaborations with Network for Cinema Studies (NECS), Society for Animation Studies (SAS) and other institutions and organizations.

3. to promote and increase academic publications in collaboration with Cinema Journal and other Film and Media publications.

4. to especially encourage and foster graduate and postgraduate students working in the field.
