Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science Department

This group was created for the Students and Alumni of the Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Science Programs at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico.

The Electrical Engineering Program was established in 1984, and in 1988 we graduated our first students. Originally, we only offered the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with the Electric Power and Electronics areas of interest. In 1992, we added the Computer Engineering as an area of interest. In 2002, we started offering the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. Between 2003 thru 2005, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, the Master of Science in Computer Engineering and the Master of Science in Computer Science were launched.

Since 1988 until the present day, we have graduate over 1,400 engineers and computer scientists, who are currently working in Puerto Rico and around the world.

Our mission: “To produce graduates with broad background in computers, mathematics, science and electrical engineering capable of performing successfully as electrical engineers, computer engineers, and computer scientists and pursuing graduate studies.”
