Jewish Legal Discussion

Just Great Discussions.

Through moderation and -- more importantly -- self-control, we keep all of our (often passionate) discussions about Biblical/Rabbinic law and history at a high level of discourse.

About the Moderation Rules:

NO SPAM. We neither read nor eat spam: we delete it on sight.

NO PERSONAL ATTACKS. If we see a post that is insulting or offensive towards another member of the forum - we will delete that post. Rule of thumb: Re-read what you write before you hit "enter" and take out anything that any reasonable person would consider "argumentum ad hominem." We don't care how brilliant or informative your post is - one insult or personal attack, and it will be deleted. :)

NO DELETING THREADS. You are more than entitled to delete your own comments on threads but it's really unfair to everyone else to delete an entire thread (even if you started it), because it includes everyone else's comments as well. We appreciate everyone's contributions and participation but will remove you from the group if you delete an entire thread. There are other ways to deal with posts you don't like.

NO BLOCKING THE MODERATORS. Members who block moderators may have their posts deleted and/or may be expelled from the group, in the interests safeguarding public decorum.

BLOCKING OTHER MEMBERS IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED. If you have been personally attacked and repeatedly insulted, such that you feel a need to block another member, please draw the moderators' attention to the offending party. Otherwise, please do not block other members, since it transforms conversations into snippets and renders them unintelligible to the blocked parties.

This isn't a democracy, this isn't a dictatorship, this isn't a country, it's an online discussion forum started and maintained by private individuals.
