Piperhill, Beckwood, Black Hill, The Pig Field/Leech Homes, The Glade, The Ford, Jon and Jans Spar, the Snicket, Top shops/Pollits, Kevin’s Fashions, VG/Hardys, Mrs Nicklings Dairy, Lady Fayre.....having your school shoes on tick at Ken Sayres? Going to the Dizzy disco on a Saturday night....Lorraine Brannon’s mam in her bobble hat......the fish and chip van...the pop man...The Green Crawley Van...Goldfinch Off Licence...trying to jump the gap in the wall at Oak Tree Court...The Police House...Colburn Lodge...The Hildyard Arms...Arc.....Walkerville.......that’s the places, but what about the characters?
Pat and John McHale from the Lodge, Mr Stock, Rock On Tommy...Harry Mudd...Rocking Raymond (Richmond may lay claim to him now, but his origins are Colburn!) Screwy Louis, Hilda the lollipop lady, Mr Pepper the school caretaker, Chinese Lil, Jonny and Valentine Whitfield , Bushy Bushy
And the clubs, Brownies and Guides, that weird club on a fri night in the church hall ran by the deaf guy 'Stephen' and his wife.......Miss Macadam’s dance class, Amateur Hamateurs, the Cricket Team, all the brilliant Football sides that Colburn has fielded.......and we gotta mention the fab Colburn Fusiliers’.....’da dum dum , dad um dum, da'd um dum dum’-never again will we be woken by that on a Sunday morning......
